Prep in Advance

  1. Do inform your children’s school way in advance about your move.
  2. Check important documents like passport/visas, other permits, etc., and keep them safe.
  3. Additionally, check the validity of all important documents like residence/work permits, etc., and make sure you have all the required permissions.
  4. Consult with your bank about your international move. If required open your overseas bank account.
  5. Check all healthcare requirements at the destination you’re moving to.
  6. Consult with Tax consultants, the Social Security office to ensure future transactions happen to the correct account and inquire about benefits entitled to you.

One Week to-go

  1. Ensure you notify your service providers like telephone companies, gas, newspapers, cable, internet, etc. to terminate services.
  2. Notify the Department of Motor vehicles to cancel your registration for your vehicles.
  3. Consult with your relocation service partners if you are shipping your vehicle overseas.
  4. Update your new address wherever required.
  5. Consult with your doctor to have your necessary medications prescribed.
  6. You can also donate, give away, sell household items you do want need any longer.
  7. Most importantly, make multiple copies of all your important documents.
  8. Keep aside a few items that you wish to carry with you to your new home. Meanwhile, your relocation services partner will transport all your goods across the globe.

Moving Day

  1. Pack sufficient clothing, for your time away from the rest of your household goods.
  2. It is advisable to keep your jewellery/cash with yourself.
  3. Keep items like keys, wallet, important documents safely packed in your suitcases.
  4. Do a final recce of your current home to ensure each item has been meticulously packed.
  5. Ask for a copy of the packed inventory list from your relocation service provider.

It is a good idea to begin your new journey with a celebration. The day you reach your move destination, reserve a table at a nice restaurant for the evening.
